Venus, the Goddess of Love, is in Virgo and Mars, the God of War, is in Gemini, and as Mercury rules both Virgo and Gemini, and is also retrograde, Mercurial energy is intense while Venus and Mars square up to one another.
We will be deep in our thoughts, as well as deep in our feelings, and as Mars is in a more dominant position, we may feel the urge to try to gain some control within our relationships and have a strong desire to find out exactly how a significant person feels about us.
The most challenging aspect here is that Venus’ energy could be causing us to want attention, affection, validation and romance in a steady and gentle way, however, Mars’ energy may be coming on too strong, bringing in fast, dominant and quite aggressive methods of pursuit. This then brings about a push and pull dynamic, where we are caught in a ‘one step forward two steps back’ type dance, struggling to find balance between being receptive and being too forceful.
In a relationship this energy can play out in a fun and flirtatious way, or it can drive us crazy, never knowing exactly how the other person feels. It can also make us want to pull back, or want to withdraw entirely, especially if the connection feels too overwhelming or as though the other person is too distant.
Today is the optimum day for taking time for introspection and recognising how we connect with those who we are closest to, and to work out ways to find balance between our Venus/receptive and Mars/ aggressive energies.
When Venus and Mars energy comes together the harmony or disharmony it brings depends upon how much genuine attraction, chemistry and compatibility there is to begin with. If there is a strong sensual, emotional and physical connection between two people, this energy can bring playfulness, excitement and passion. However, if there are already tensions brewing and two people cannot find ways to gel together, when Venus and Mars square up to one another, tensions flare and become so hot, it can burn the last of the bridges.
Overall, this energy is definitely one that will bring to the surface how vital it is that we recognise where we, or others, are either too passive or too forceful, and how much that impacts our ability to sustain a relationship.
With Mars in Gemini we will feel compelled to speak our mind, and this can prove challenging with Mercury in retrograde, as it is already causing difficulties with communicating emotions clearly.
We may also be feeling friction and frustration if we are trying to second guess how others truly feel, which could create even more confusion and misunderstandings. This is why open and honest communication is essential, whether we are in the initial stages of dating, or in any type of long-term commitment, being brave enough to be vulnerable and clear with one another can save so much unnecessary pain and disruption down the line.
The Sun in Virgo is directly opposite Neptune in Pisces, which may bring up issues with the ego, and might even temporarily cause us to feel as though we are experiencing an existential crisis. We could be feeling quite alone, or even ‘small’ in the world, wondering exactly where we fit in. Fortunately, this will quickly pass, and by Saturday we will have a far clearer vision of what our purpose is and who we want around us on our journey.
Our thoughts may be a little cloudy due to the Sun/Neptune energy and we will find it difficult to find the right words to convey how we feel. With the ego being extra dominate today, it may try to convince us it is better to stay safe in our comfort zones, rather than be vulnerable and risk any type of rejection.
These are the type of days where we learn most about ourselves, and discover whether we are being held back by our ego and the critical and limiting stories we repeat in our minds, or whether we have evolved enough to find a balance between our fears, fantasies, reality and intuition.
This energy will be lasting into the weekend, and if we can remain grounded and open, it will really help us find understanding, balance and peace in some of our most challenging connections, especially within those that hold immense importance. When Venus and Mars come together in this way, they are known to heighten emotions and passions to such an extent that relationships reach a ‘make or break’ moment.
This is a time when masculine energy cosmically connects with feminine energy, and offers a rare opportunity for a deeper understanding of ourselves, and others, and a far greater insight into why we feel a strong attraction to certain people, and how best to handle it.
