"You're here because you know something. What you know you can't explain, but you feel it. You've felt it your entire life, that there's something wrong with the world. You don't know what it is, but it's there, like a splinter in your mind, driving you mad. It is this feeling that has brought you to me." Morpheus - Matrix

Lori Lines - Guilt - 21.08.2025

Lately, I’ve been hearing a lot about guilt—and it’s got me thinking about how often guilt is actually tied to ego. The quiet, identity-based ego that’s wrapped up in how we see ourselves—or how we want to be seen.
We might think we’re feeling guilt because we truly did something wrong, but sometimes it’s more about how attached we are to being “the good one.” That voice in our head that says, “If I feel terrible, it means I care. It means I’m still a decent person.” But when we really stop and feel into it, we might notice that’s not our soul speaking—that’s ego.
Ego’s sneaky like that. It loops us in guilt as a way to maintain a certain image. It pulls from old conditioning, childhood messages, societal rules… all those subtle voices that taught us we have to suffer to prove we’re sorry.
But the soul? The soul doesn’t do guilt like that. It gently notices, learns, and redirects. It doesn’t shame—it simply invites us back into alignment with love.
So maybe when guilt comes up, instead of letting it consume us, we can pause and ask: Is this helping me grow—or is it just ego trying to hold on to a version of me I no longer need to be?

Love y’all,
-Lori
